Kaleido Paper Arts

︎ City of Craft | Craft Lab
︎ Community-Engaged Arts & Art Program
︎ Toronto, ON
︎ December 2019

As part of City of Craft, a collective dedicated to supporting independent artists and building community within Toronto’s craft scene, Paddy Leung was invited to design an accessible and meditative art activity for festival-goers. Drawing inspiration from the winter season and the delicate geometry of snowflakes, participants were guided to create origami snowflakes in both 2D and 3D forms. Each fold contributed to a unique pattern, reflecting the idea that, like snowflakes, every individual is different and holds their own beauty.

The activity was designed as a quiet, contemplative space within the bustling festival, offering attendees a chance to slow down, engage in hands-on art-making, and experience the meditative joy of folding paper. Through this project, Leung explored how participatory craft can foster creativity, personal reflection, and community connection, while celebrating the artistry, precision, and playfulness inherent in traditional origami techniques.
