Dancing With Dragons is a hanging installation presented by The Theatre Centre as part of SIDE STREETS, a year-round exhibition series in the Theatre Centre Café and Bar that features work by local artists from City of Craft. Curated by Kalpna Patel, the series creates opportunities for artists to activate shared public spaces through craft, material exploration, and site-responsive installation.

In this project, I explore movement, balance, and transformation through suspended forms that respond to the rhythms of the space. Drawing from craft-based processes and installation practices, Dancing With Dragons invites viewers to encounter the work in motion, allowing light, air, and proximity to shape the experience. The installation reflects my ongoing interest in how materials can suggest play, care, and storytelling within everyday environments.

By situating the work in a café and bar setting, the project blurs the boundaries between art and daily life. The installation becomes part of the social atmosphere of the space, offering moments of wonder and pause for visitors as they gather, move, and connect. Dancing With Dragons reflects my broader practice of creating accessible, community-facing artworks that encourage curiosity and imaginative engagement.

The Theatre Centre’s SIDE STREETS series supports experimentation and visibility for local artists, and this project is part of an ongoing dialogue between craft, public space, and collective experience.
