As Canada and the world start to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, we have a chance to rethink what community care means and how we can stay connected with the people we love. Food is an important part of our lives—it affects us emotionally and socially, and the foods we choose are often very personal. In these challenging times, when working together is more important than ever, spending time with others and sharing meals can be one of the best ways to support both our health and our communities.
Visual Arts of Mississauga and PUFF Paddy hosted "Food For Thought," a workshop where people of all ages came together to make their favorite dishes using art, crafts, and recycled materials. The workshop gave participants a chance to think about what food means to them, share their cultural backgrounds and personal stories, and express their love for cooking through creativity. The workshop ended with a special exhibition at VAM Gallery on November 21, 2021, where everyone could enjoy and admire the creative dishes made by the group.
