Abundance of Gold

︎ London Fringe Theater Festival & Uber Cool Stuff
︎ Window Display
︎ Toronto, ON
︎ June 2016

Paddy Leung was commissioned to create a window display for the independent shop Uber Cool Stuff, which was featured during the London Fringe Theatre Festival. The project was inspired by the idea of a giant aquarium filled with goldfish, drawing from Chinese cultural and Feng Shui traditions. In this context, goldfish symbolize wealth, abundance, and prosperity. The Chinese word for fish, , shares its pronunciation with the word for abundance or surplus, and the golden hue further emphasizes richness and good fortune.

The installation invited viewers to step into a playful, immersive environment, where the visual impact of suspended goldfish and layered materials created a sense of movement and depth. This project allowed Leung to expand my skills in installation and spatial design, building on my experience creating window displays while exploring how to transform a commercial storefront into a dynamic, site-responsive artwork. Through this work, they were able to merge cultural storytelling, community engagement, and playful design, creating an experience that was visually striking, meaningful, and interactive for viewers of all ages.
