Stained Glass Paper Mural

︎ April 2017
Inspired by the Art Nouveau movement, Paddy Leung was commissioned to create a stained glass–inspired paper mural to complement Drake Catering’s beautifully curated event. Drawing from the intricate organic motifs and flowing lines of Art Nouveau, Leung designed laser-cut peacock flowers as the central visual element. Each flower was layered with coloured tissue paper to enhance translucency, allowing light to shine through and evoke the luminous qualities of stained glass.
The individual pieces were arranged in a repeating wallpaper-like pattern and draped across the space, creating a dynamic, immersive environment. LED lights were strategically positioned to illuminate the mural, enhancing its depth and bringing the paper “stained glass” to life. The installation transformed the event space into a shimmering, playful environment, inviting guests to move through and experience the work from multiple perspectives.
This project reflects Leung’s interest in combining material experimentation, light, and architectural design to create interactive, site-responsive installations that balance elegance, wonder, and a sense of tactile joy.
